As an avid sportsmen, Larry Smith took the Maryland Hunter Safety Course in the fifth grade and there was born a lifetime of love and appreciation for the role of hunters and anglers. One of his favorite sportsmen activities is fishing with his daughter Hannah.

Larry Smith will fight for essential federal resource investment to communities to support enhancing local infrastructure to create and implement environmentally friendly strategic plan to alleviate raw sewage overflows that are undermining all aspects of outdoor animal, bird, and fish habitat. Larry Smith is a member of the Potomac River Sportsmen's Club. As an educator Larry Smith, has worked with student environmental and outdoor programs championing the responsibilities of all citizens to respect our cultural heritage and insure that our outdoors, and sportsmen rights are never taken away.

If we send Mr. Smith to Washington he will fight to secure essential federal investment in scientific resources to colleges and universities to examine the effects of diseases that can undermine our deer population such as Chronic Wasting Disease that is always fatal in deer and is accompanied by acute weight loss. We must provide for cost effective, sound, and sustained assurances that we develop the systemic mechanisms to detect, control, and respond to potentially devastating diseases that impact the habitat enjoyed by our sportsmen that we are obliged to pass on to our children.
